The DCA area is underlain by Early to Middle Jurassic rocks of the Saddle Hill Formation, Hazeltone Group. The strata is intruded by Late Cretaceous to Eocene dioritic rock.

An area of disseminated chalcopyrite occurs in an area of chloritc and silicic altered andesitic volcanics with lesser gabbro(?). The area was mapped and sampled over 2000 metre by 1500 metre area. While the grab bedrock samples have not yield consistent copper in every sample, 9 of the 42 samples taken yielded values in excess of 1000 parts per million copper (Assessment Report 29629).

A two part exploration program was completed on the Babine claims in 2007 by Midland Recording Services Ltd, at which time the prospecting was conducted and 79 rock samples were collected. At this time the Disseminated Chalcopyrite Area (DCA) was discovered. Nine of the 42 samples taken yielded values greater than 0.100 per cent copper and up to 0.402 per cent copper (Assessment Report 29629).

In 2008, Rolland Menard completed a program of rock and soil sampling on the Sparrowhawk property. Three samples (7R41813, 7R41814 and 7R41815) of amygdaloidal basalt with chlorite and carbonate amygdules and pyrite-chalcopyrite mineralization, taken approximately 500 metres northwest of the DCA occurrence, assayed 0.361, 0.874 and 0.521 per cent copper, respectively (Assessment Report 30720).

Some sampling was done in 2011 by Midland Recording Services on the Verdi (DCA) showing. Copper Point Mining Corp carried out a 351 kilometre airborne electromagnetic and magnetic survey which covered the DCA (Assessment Report 33139).

In 2018, a grab sample (S848413) from the DCA occurrence area assayed 0.744 per cent copper (Assessment Report 38988).
